at the Weik's ranch today. The snow was lovely, but may have kept some away, and caused some to be later than intended (me included). We missed Zuihan, but were delighted with the two young ladies who were there (I won't say 'kids') and their sounds were just right, hopefully next time there will be more kids. Those who made it, thanks. Those who didn't, hope to see you. And...I left my zafu and zabuton there, which I tend to do about 4.5 out of 5 times, so if you could, Sensei, bring them to the dojo, thanks again.

I too had another wonderful experience at the ranch. It had been far too long for me since sitting with the sangha. I'd like to thank you all for your practice. Jamie also enjoyed bonding with Isabella.
One of the biggest things I got out of our talk today was that we need to live the Budda life. Actually living our lives in a wakeful state. Experiencing life rather than just surviving day to day.
Happy year of the pig to us all!
While Chuck was leaving his zafu, I left my allergy eye drops in the bathroom. Chikyo, please bring them to the zendo Wednesday. Thanks.
Sunday was really great. The question posed during the talk, why do we need to practice if we already have buddha nature is one I had been asking myself recently. And the answer I had come up with is this analogy: Our buddha nature is a jewel and our practice is a way of polishing that jewel so that it shines, glissens, and becomes transparent. The value of the jewel is always there but practice allows us to share our jewel more and more with the world.
Well, our apologies. The weather did not cooperate with us twice in one week. We do look forward to making next month's for sure. Michael and I took the opportunity wednesday during the snow emergency (due to proximity) to sit and as always, sitting with members of the sangha is always helpful to one's practice. I look forward to reconnecting in person a week from this wednesday. Take Care. Again working on a Sangha directory. Please e-mail me your contact information @ knappetak@bex.net
